SPAN's Smart Battery Reader is a necessary tool for organizations that use smart batteries.  It provides a simple means to read all the information stored in the battery electronics.  The operator will find the presently recorded battery charge status along with other pertinent information to carry out its function.

Smart Battery Reader typically reads the following information:
Terminal Voltage	Measure of error in estimates of capacity
Temperature	Present charge status - as % of full capacity
Current + in / - out	Percent capacity as delivered from manufacturer
Average Current	Low battery - estimated time remaining till full depletion
Capacity - as mA-Hr	Status: manufacturers technical information
Manufacturers design capacity	Mode: manufacturers technical information
Low battery alarm setting - in mA-Hrs	Number of recorded charge cycles since delivery

Unit has a 16 character LCD display for the display function. Operator only needs to connect the SBR to the battery making sure the + terminal on the battery connector is is connected to the + terminal on the SBR cable connector. Two keys on the SBR can be pressed in any sequence to move forward or back through the battery information. The SBR operates on power from the battery. Negligibly small current is drawn for this purpose.
